While I would be happy to have a single HD standard, and it is convenient that it looks like Blu-Ray, the format I have thus far been consuming, appears right now to have a shot at being that standard, it’s still rather pathetic that it is only through winning an utterly bogus, likely manufactured format war which will see many early HD-DVD adapters stuck with (sometimes expensive collections of) the “losing” format.
Double jeers to Sony and Toshiba for not coming up with a combined format from the get-go. DVD didn’t suffer such foolishness, and HD oughtn’t have suffered it neither.

Weve heard from reputable sources at CES 2008 that people are returning HD DVD players they bought at low prices over the holidays because of all the crap thats gone down in the HD DVD camp this past week. Have any of you guys seen—or been a part of—the phenomenon?
